Item Description
A wonderful old time classic Fluorite from Weardale featuring a very good sized (3.7 cm), sharp, well-formed, translucent, purple cubic crystal of Fluorite with a smaller secondary crystal on the side. There is a slight coverage of drusy Quartz on the front for a nice contrast. When backlit, the piece shows a bit of a rosy-pink hue in areas. The front / display side is in great shape, but it's not complete on the back, so the piece is not 100% pristine, but it's still a very worthwhile example of this beloved material from northern England. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
