Item Description

Translucent, lustrous, mottled rich purple octahedrons to 1.2 cm with bubbly prism faces dramatically cover both sides of the large etched quartz crust on this very fine specimen from this well-known locale. Interestingly, the platy quartz is tinted light mint-green, probably by chlorite. Possibly collected by ace field collector Dick Jones in the late 1970s, who hid the true locality for a while. Very choice and classic New Mexico material from the Art Soregaroli Collection. Very faint purple fluorescence.
