Fluorite (New Hampshire! - ex Borofsky coll.)

This is a very rare American fluorite specimen, featuring a sharp octahedral crystal in matrix - most of them are partial, or off matrix. It was found by and from the personal collection of Bob Borofsky, owner of the William Wise mine in Westmoreland. He mines for gem rough for "the new american green gem" but also protects the rare specimen when found. Some years ago, perhaps 2010 or so, I bought his collection and this is a straggler lost in the lab cleaning, and not resurfaced until now! At the time, we did a display of them and this, for the size, would have fit nicely into it. The crystal, to 3 cm on edge, sits smartly on perfectly trimmed quartz matrix. This is a $1500-2500 specimen to those who know what it is, if at the right show with the right dealer in front of the right collector. It is a RARE thing...though not as glamorous as a modern Chinese green fluorite, it remains unique and different, and therefore collectible.
