Item Description
From a new discovery at the end of 2016, here we have another wonderful find of Fluorite from China. At the time of this posting the actual name of the mine is undisclosed by Chinese dealers, and the only information I was given was that the specimens were found in Sanming Prefecture, Fujian Province, China. I'm sure the actual mine name will be revealed soon. With that said it seems that China never seems to run out of interesting and exciting Fluorites discoveries with a myriad of habits and color. These specimens are particularly interesting as they feature dodecahedral crytals, which is an uncommon habit for Fluorite, especially from China as most crystals typically show cubic or octahedral form. To top it off, the crystals are actually bi-colored showing beautiful purple and green tones. This piece hosts very sharp, notably well-formed, lustrous, gemmy smooth dodecahedral crystals of Fluorite with gorgeous internal wispy purple "threads" floating inside of the soft green background sitting on Quartz matrix. The largest crystal measures 2.2 cm across, and for the most part the piece is in excellent condition. As with all new finds from China, they can disappear in a heartbeat, or we could see thousands of them on the market, it's impossible to know, but if you collect Fluorites, especially colorful specimens with rarely seen dodecahedral crystals, don't wait to buy one because they could be gone as quickly as they arrived.
