Fluorite (near "floater" specimen)

The Yaogangxian Mine is one of the premier specimen producers in the modern era of Chinese mineral production. This locality is known for producing some excellent crystallized Fluorite specimens, which are regarded among the best from any Chinese locality. This toenail sized specimen features a very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, purple cubic crystal group of Fluorite associated with colorless Quartz and small rhombs of Calcite according to the label, but I'm inclined to think that they may be Dolomite. The outer edges of the Fluorite are a much darker purple hue than the interior, giving the piece a beautiful dual-color effect. Typically, these specimens are contacted / broken on the bottom, but THIS piece is completely crystallized on the base, and it would be a complete "floater" were it not for one small point of attachment on the back / reverse corner. An excellent quality specimen of this beautiful material from this world-class locale.
