Item Description

Fluorite is one of the most popular and colorful minerals in the world. It is found in all kinds of environments, with a myriad of habits, and can even be found in crystals exhibiting multiple colors. The famed Okorusu Mine is one of the premier Fluorite localities in the world. This famous Namibian locale has produced a large number of fine quality specimen over the years, often showing multiple colors within the same crystals. I have literally seen Fluorite specimens in every color of the rainbow (that included black and colorless) from Okorusu. This piece is an attractive sharp, well-formed, gemmy cubic group, showing a glowing green hue in the center, which grades into a lighter blue and lavender shades on the exterior edges. The piece is contacted on the lower portion and the back where it was removed from the pocket wall, but still an attractive and distinctive Fluorite specimen that would make a nice addition to any collection.
From the collection of Chester ("Chet") S. Lemanski Jr. of Browns Mills, New Jersey (https://www.mindat.org/user-461.html). Collection #12355CL. The piece was originally from the collection of Dan Serebrakian. Chet was born 1947 in started collecting minerals circa 1957. He worked briefly as a drill runner at the famous Sterling Mine, in Ogdensburg, New Jersey and from 1987 to 1990 he helped convert the mine into a public access mining museum. He has held the role of treasurer, vice president and president of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS), and has been a board member and vice president of the Franklin Mineral Museum. The rare copper arsenate, Lemanskiite was named in his honor in 1999.
