Item Description

A striking and aesthetic combination specimen from the Dick Heck Mexico Collection. A sulfide matrix is host to elongated, frosted scalenohedrons of lustrous, ivory-colored manganoan calcite, to 5. 5 cm across, which are surrounded by lustrous and translucent, seafoam-green, cubic fluorite crystals that exhibit intense stepped growth. The fluorite crystals are very sharp, reach 2 cm across and have a frosted surface to them. Overall an interesting combination piece. Note that this is from Taxco, not Naica - such fluorites, and combinations, are much more rare here. A dramatic contrast to the fluorescence, purple for the fluorite and coral for the manganoan calcite! Valued at $500.
