Item Description

A remarkable, hefty and robust large cabinet sized display specimen loaded with beautiful bluish-purple colored, gemmy cubic crystals of Fluorite with a satiny luster on the surface, free of matrix. If you flip the piece over, you'll see that the center is hollow (almost like a "cast") which is lined with tiny jewel-like WATER-CLEAR crystals of virtually colorless Fluorite inside. The largest individual cube on the front / display side measures 3.3 cm on edge. The piece is in great shape overall, with very little damage, outside of the base of the piece where it was removed from the pocket (along with the saw mark from where it was trimmed). This is quite possibly the largest and finest example of this specific material that we've had to offer, and is valued around $5,500 for that reason. It's a heavy piece, weighing 1,703 grams, and will require an additional shipping charge. If you have any questions about shipping costs and our shipping policy, please contact us before bidding. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#710 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
