Item Description

A wonderfully large green gemmy octahedron of Fluorite is intergrown with a secondary Fluorite of equal quality sitting on a bit of dark redidsh-brown Sphalerite with no additional matrix. The main Fluorite crystal measures an impressive 9.3 cm across, and is in notably fine condition, as it's crystallized all the way around, save only a few small nicks. The piece is one of the more impressive specimens I've seen fro this locality in terms of size of the actual crystals. Honestly, most Fluorite crystals from any world locality aren't terribly large, and considering that this one is pushing nearly 4 inches, it's a significant piece. This one was difficult to photograph as well, but take my word for it, it's better in person, and the photos don't tell the entire story. We have this one valued at $3,500 for the size and completeness of the crystals. Ex Dr. Steven Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
