Fluorite included in Quartz

These specimens of sharp octohedral purple fluorites floating WITHIN quartz points were one of the few "new sensations" at the Tucson Show one year back in the late 1990s, especially as new finds were so scarce from Madagascar still, in those days. We EXPECTED to see more at Denver but there were none to be had except for this small parcel which the collector had saved for us, based on a commitment we made at that time. Here is a straggler, that I sold 20 years or more ago and it has come back in a collection purchase, so it can go to a new home! At any rate, here is another shot to get one if you did not the first time around! The fluorites grew on the face of the quartz crystal at some point during its development in the pocket, and were later engulfed as the quartz continued its growth. The quartz crystal is more "silky" than shiny in appearance, but it is transaparent and complete. Crystal-within-crystal inclusions of this sort are of course quite exceptional
