Item Description

Fluorite crystals of this exceptional quality are RARE from Zagi Mountain, famous for the world's finest bastnasite crystals. A 4.0 cm, translucent pretty light sea-green, cubooctahedral crystal with frosted faces is aesthetically set on the granitic gneiss matrix. A few embedded riebeckite needles in the fluorite are a nifty accent. The fluorite fluoresces bright blue. This specimen is pictured in an article on Zagi Mountain by Dr. Peter Leavens and Herb Obodda published in the "Rare Earths" issue of The Mineralogical Record, May-June 2004 (Volume 35, number 3) as figure 19 on page 215. Ex Herb Obodda Collection # 2088. Superb and rare fluorite valued at $950.
