Fluorite (''ice cube'' crystals) with Sphalerite and Calcite (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

A big showy and fine quality combo specimen of the famous colorless Fluorites from Dalnegorsk. This full sized cabinet specimen features several razor sharp, very lustrous, GEM quality, colorless cubes ("ice cubes") of Fluorite measuring up to 2.8 cm on edge which are associated with accenting black Sphalerite sitting atop silvery rhombic Calcite matrix. There are a few imperfections so the piece isn't 100% pristine, but it's really pretty in person and notably three-dimensional, which isn't always the case with these pieces. Fluorite is found in a wide range of colors, but colorless crystals are fairly rare in nature, and it's actually a sign of chemical purity, as all colored Fluorites have some kind of chemical impurity that act as the chromophore. This is older material from the 1990s, and nearly impossible to find these days. I value this piece around $3,000 retail for reference. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
