Item Description
A very aesthetic and fine quality combo specimen of the famous colorless Fluorites from Dalnegorsk. This small sized cabinet specimen features several razor sharp, very lustrous, GEM quality, colorless cubes ("ice cubes") of Fluorite measuring up to 1.3 cm on edge which are associated with accenting silvery-grey Galena measuring up to 1.4 cm, with compressed rhombic crystals of Calcite measuring up to 2.2 cm, which are sitting on a matrix of Pyrite with minor tan Siderite. There are a few imperfections so the piece isn't 100% pristine, but it's really pretty in person and notably three-dimensional, which isn't always the case with these pieces. Fluorite is found in a wide range of colors, but colorless crystals are fairly rare in nature, and it's actually a sign of chemical purity, as all colored Fluorites have some kind of chemical impurity that act as the chromophore. This is older material from the 1990s, and nearly impossible to find these days. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl, a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
