Fluorite (''ice'' crystal)

Here we have a good-sized, classic example of the famous "ice" Fluorite crystals from Dalnegorsk. The vast majority of the Fluorite crystals from various world localities have some kind of color to them due to various chromophores, but the colorless quality of these particular Fluorites from the Nikolaevskiy Mine is actually an indicator of their chemical purity. These colorless crystals from Dalnegorsk are likely the most well-known examples of colorless Fluorite from any world locality. This piece is an excellent, very sharp, rather gemmy, well-formed cube, free of matrix. No major damage that I can see on the main display face, but the other side does have a few contacts / separation marks, and please note that it's cleaved in the back where it detached from the pocket wall. It's larger than most of the other single cubic "ice" crystals we've had to offer from this locality. A wonderful, good quality example of this elusive and eye-catching material. Valued $1,500.
