Item Description

Fluorite specimens from this much less well-known Kavalerovo Mining District area, near Dal'negorsk, Russia are much rarer than from the much more famous nearby Dal'negorsk mines. Distinctive, diagnostic, lustrous and translucent, mint-green fluorite octahedrons with nifty frosted faces are nicely scattered on the undulating cabinet plate covered with glassy quartz crystals. The sharp, dramatic, large octahedron is 3.3 x 2.8 x 2.4 cm and has just a gently bruised tip. One edge of the quartz plate even has hyalite opal! Specimens such as this came out in the early 1990s, with none since. A very fine large combination plate with excellent character and bright purple (fluorite) and yellow (hyalite opal) fluorescence. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock and valued by Herb at $900, five or more years ago. Valued today at $1000-1250.
