Fluorite (Hefendehl Coll.)

Item Description

A sculptural, excellent small cabinet sized Fluorite from one of the premier Chinese localities, the Yaogangxian Mine! It is as much of a "jewel" as a Fluorite can be. The trio of Fluorite crystals are completely transparent and show cubic as well as octahedral forms with the cubic faces being glassy and the octahedral faces having a satin luster due to tiny growth features. The entire body of the crystals is a lovely light blue to almost aqua color and they are accented by bright purple and brownish highlights along select, random edges and as local, small 1 to 3 mm, "spots". The Fluorite crystals are distinctly formed, but the composite forms on these crystals result in just slightly rounded edges for added interest and aesthetics. The crystals are in absolutely excellent condition with the piece being contacted at the bottom with some minor whitish clay where it was removed from the pocket. Several crystals seem to be penetration twins, as a bonus. A rare, old style for Yaogangxian.
