Fluorite (GEMMY spherical crystal groups - unique color)

We've seen several different styles and colors of Fluorite from various localities in Yiwu Co., Zhejiang, China, but this one really stands out as being different and special. This full-sized cabinet specimen is loaded with rather lustrous, tightly intergrown crystals of Fluorite, which have formed rare spherical-shaped groups that GLOW when backlit, showing an unusual hue that can best be described as a light peach-pink shade with slight lavender overtones. I can't recall another Fluorite from China with this specific style of crystallization and unique color. The back / underside of the piece has been sawn, so there is no matrix, which allows the light to shine through when backlit, and you can see how GEMMY the Fluorites are, as some of them are nearly water-clear. A really cool and honestly different kind of Fluorite that is unlike anything I can remember. Valued $3,500.

From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#545 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
