Item Description

A gorgeous and three-dimensional display specimen from Chongyi Co. in Jiangxi, China featuring a group of sharp, well-formed, gemmy, beautiful cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.5 cm sitting on a matrix of white Quartz. The crystals largely have a green color, but they have overgrown a previous generation of purple Fluorite underneath, creating a really pretty bi-colored hue, especially when the piece is backlit, as you get all kinds of interesting color combination, including a pinkish tone that we've tried to illustrate in the one of the photos. I will point out that the Fluorites do show a slight color shift. In indoor lighting, the color of the Fluorites is largely a pastel greenish shade but if you take the piece in sunlight, the color changes to a show more of a bluish overtone. You don't see many piece from this area on the market, and this one is certainly in the upper ranks in terms of quality and overall visceral beauty. Valued $2,000.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#707 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the coming months and years through our various platforms.
