Item Description

This is a striking display specimen of the classic old time Fluorites from Naica. This small cabinet piece features a predominant, wonderfully modified group of Fluorite measuring 1.6 cm that consists of a combination of primarily cube, octahedron and dodecahedron faces sitting aesthetically on matrix. The crystals have a very light lilac hue with good luster and internal translucency. A few smaller groups of Fluorite can be seen on the piece as well for a nice touch . The piece is undamaged on the front / display side, and the underside features black Sphalerite crystals along with minor Pyrite. A beautiful overall Fluorite, and a great example of crystal morphology. From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
