Fluorite (gemmy cubes) (ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection)

Classic material from the Xianghuapu Mine featuring many very lustrous, rather gemmy, soft green colored cubic crystals of Fluorite with slight dodecahedral modifications measuring up to 3.1 cm on edge sitting on minor matrix. The piece is a in great shape on the display side, with very little damage. Some of the crystals are WATER CLEAR on the edges, with more of a "wispy" interior. Hard to photograph, better in person, but good quality to be sure. This is well known material dating back about 15-20 years, and not typically available on the market today. We had this one priced at $1,200 in the inventory. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
