Fluorite (GEMMY crystals) on Quartz (ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection)

Item Description

A beautiful display quality specimen of Fluorite from Chenzhou (possibly the Yaogangxian Mine) featuring many supremely lustrous and GEMMY, purple / colorless crystals measuring up to 1.4 cm on edge sitting on tiny crystallized Quartz matrix. The largest Fluorite is actually on the backside of the specimen, and due to its size, it actually shows a small amount of green color in the corners, which cannot be seen in the smaller Fluorite crystals. If you look closely, you'll see that although the crystals appear cubic in habit, even the smaller ones have narrow dodecahedral modifying faces on the edges. I can't find any major damage on the display side, and take my word for it when I say that this one of those specimens that just looks better in person. We've done our best to illustrate the quality in photos and the video, but you really need to hold it in your hands to appreciate the glistening luster, the superb internal clarity and the excellent color of these Fluorite crystals.
