Item Description
This is a good quality, classic interpenetrant twin (on a cube-diagonal twinning axis) Fluorite from the famous Rogerley Mine. This distinctive twinning habit is part of what makes these specimens so desirable from the English lead mines at Weardale. The twin on this specimen is not only very sharp and well-formed, but it's WATER CLEAR with that beautiful "Rogerley green" color indoors that shifts to the classic purple daylight fluorescence in sunlight along with SW UV light. The top of the specimen is virtually undamaged, while the surrounding area around the base / back of the piece is contacted, so the specimen is not 100% pristine. These specimens may be fairly common on the market, but they are still very impressive for the species, and they won't be around forever, so if you like Fluorite, be sure to pick them up while they're available.
