Fluorite (GEM quality crystals)

Item Description

One of the most prolific mineral localities in Mexico is the prodigious Naica Mine, which is not only home to the most exemplary Gypsum crystals ever discovered (the famous "Cave of Swords") but it has produced superb examples of many other mineral species, including some truly iconic Fluorites. Here we have a wonderful small cabinet sized specimen featuring several superb quality, sharp, GEM crystals of Fluorite which are associated with minor black Sphalerite on the back, and no matrix. The largest Fluorites measures 3.8 cm. The crystals show a combination of dodecahedron and cube faces. The Fluorites are actually colorless, but there is a beautiful pale mint green concentration of color at the center of the specimen. This one was difficult to photograph, but it's very attractive in person and would make a fine addition to any Fluorite suite or a collection of minerals from Naica. We had this piece valued in the inventory at $900 for the quality and the fact these gem crystals are not easy to find on the market these days.
