Fluorite (GEM Pink Spinel Twin) (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

The Fluorite twins from this locality are distinctive and unique in the world, for the sharpness, gemminess and noteworthy size. Most of the twins I've seen from this area are green in color, but pink examples are rare and highly sought after by collectors. Here, we have a wonderful GEM QUALITY Spinel-twinned BI-COLOR Fluorite crystal with minor associated Muscovite The color is a lovely peach-pink hue and it just GLOWS with color when backlit. The piece is almost completely WATER CLEAR, and there are large sections that would yield fantastic gemstones (though I would never condone such an act on a fine crystal like this). You can see the twin line (reentrant line) that runs along the length of the crystal. I can find any true damage per se, but the crystal has incomplete growth in areas where the Muscovite grew. It's essentially crystallized all the way around, including the underside, though it's not complete where the Muscovite is contacted. A great quality, older Fluorite specimen from the famous pegmatite near Nagar.. The piece was mined in 1999. Specimen weight is 106.71 grams. Priced in the inventory at $4,000.. Hard to photograph (like many of the Fluorites from this locality) and better in person. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
