The famous Heights Mine in Weardale / Stanhope dates back to the 1850s, and even though it closed over 100 years ago, field collectors would often go into the abandoned tunnels searching for specimens until it was sealed off in the 1970s. This piece is a fantastic small cabinet featuring incredibly sharp, well-formed, lustrous, penetration cubes with a gorgeous "Weardale green" hue. The majority of the crystals are WATER CLEAR, which is amplified by the glistening luster. The crystals show a slight purple daylight fluorescence, like many Fluorites from the district. The piece is in very good shape, with only a little roughness around the edges where it was removed from the pocket wall).
