Item Description
A classic and hard to find Fluorite specimen from the Niagara Falls Quarry at Niagara Falls, New York. The piece hosts a GEM QUALITY, sharp, lustrous, light purple colored cube of Fluorite measuring 8 mm on edge, associated with colorless, transparent bladed crystals of Gypsum on matrix. The Fluorite is undamaged and fine quality. A gorgeous example of these now seldom seen Fluorites.
From the collection of Richard Hauck, who co-founded the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Ogdensburg, New Jersey with his brother, Robert after purchasing the land in 1989. He is a charter member and a former President of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society, the Geoliterary Society, and the Franklin Mineral Museum. The mineral species Hauckite was named in his honor 1980.
