Item Description
A striking, sculptural, 9.7 cm on the diagonal fluorite cube is dramatically set atop intergrown fluorite cubes with galena cubes on this outstanding large combination from the less well-known Hill-Ledford Mine at Cave-in-Rock. The translucent fluorites are grayish-purple with satin luster dense stepped-growth faces. The interior cross-hatching is noteworthy, as are the placement of the galena cubes and the rich peppering of tiny rubyjack sphalerite crystals. A surprising two-sided rib, as the back is covered with tiny gemmy rubyjack sphalerites and small grape purple fluorite cubes. Purple fluorescence. Ex Allen Dillworth Collection and collected by a miner in 1985, according to an accompanying label. A remarkable and exceptional fluorite with a large crystal from this mine.
