Item Description

A dramatic and sculptural large fluorite combination plate from the famous mines at Naica. Beautiful, water-clear, mint-green, fluorite cuboctahedrons, to 2.5 cm, with TV screen-like faces are aesthetically scattered on the undulating piece. The matrix consists of a plethora of tiny tufted, pearlescent, dogtooth calcite clusters, brassy pyritohedrons and lustrous metalic-gray galena cuboctahedrons. The back side of this impressive two-sided rib consists of calcite and microcrystalline pyrite. Very fine and classic older combination material from the 1960s-70s heyday at Naica with the accompanying dealer label from an East Coast collection. MINDAT does not list aragonite for Naica. Purple fluorite and light pink calcite fluoresence.
