Item Description

A very sculptural, large cabinet combination specimen from the Richard Hauck Quartz Collection and the Deardorff Mine of the famous Southern Illinois Fluorite District. Spherical aggregates of lustrous, glassy, milky quartz crystals comprises the 3-dimensional body of the impressive biomorphic piece. Clusters of glassy, pretty magenta fluorite cubes are aesthetically set on the "head", "chest" and "tail" of the piece. The back is another story!! Previously contacted, the healed flat back is nearly totally overgrown with fluorite cubes and clusters of tiny rubyjack sphalerite crystals. Classic, old and excellent large combination material, as the Deardorff Mine closed in the early 1960s. It was "the" specimen mine in the 1930s - 60s. Rare in this quality. Modest purple fluorescence.
