Fluorite & Galena on Quartz ex. Weaver Coll.

Item Description

Pretty color-zoned, densely intergrown fluorite cubes are dramatically complemented by the starkly contrasting sharp, oxide-coated galena cubes, to 2.9 cm, and cover the quartz matrix on the impressive, large 3-dimensional specimen. The frosted translucent cubes, to 1.8 cm, have the classic "Blanchard blue" color with many of the cubes strikingly accented with preferential violet edge phantoms. The interior is pristine, except for a cleaved fluorite cube on the upper right edge and a bit of bruising to the large galena cube. This is a very robust and sculptural large combination from this much less well-known Bingham area locale. Ex Gary Weaver Collection and valued at $2250. We have never heard of this locality as MINDAT does not list the obscure White Sands Prospect, near the renowned Blanchard and Mex-Tex mines. But, Gary Weaver specialized in New Mexico and must have had some reason for putting the name on - perhaps it was an old adit name.
