Fluorite (fluorescent) with Galena ex Gary Weaver Coll

As Fluorites from the famous Bingham area go, this is EXCELLENT. The cubes, which range up to 2.4 cm on edge, are quite gemmy for the cubic habit from here. The color is an appealing dusty blue, and there is a darker-blue edge phantom for all the crystal that adds character and definition. There is even a hint of purple in come of the cores. The fluorescence is a rich and vibrant blue. As to exact location, it is hard to say. The Galena crystals within the silicified limestone matrix certainly have a 'Blanchard' feel to them, but the Fluorites are unusual, though not unheard of. 'Bingham' will have to do, with the plethora of mines and prospects in that district. Please note that Fluorites from here tend to be light sensitive, so display accordingly. This is a very fine and attractive Hansonburg District Fluorite.
