Item Description

This is a HUGE crystal for the mine, from apparently a small pocket of 2020 Tim called the Sherry Twins pocket...of which this is so representative. Tim prepared fluorites for the company that mines here, and kept some special first-choice pieces like this in lieu of payment for his prep work. Grey-amber Fluorites from the Eastgate Quarry, famous for its outstanding, green penetration twins, are relatively uncommon for this great Fluorite locality. This large Fluorite, 4 cm on edge, is actually a twin, which displays with amazing gemminess because it is cleaved in the back, so light can come through very easily. The main crystal is quite attractive, with its faint zoning, good luster, and shimmering internal crazing giving the Fluorite real character. And let's not forget the intense, vivid fluorescence for which English Fluorites are exemplary, literally. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection. Unusual, huge crystal for the locale, valued $800-1000
