Item Description

An exceptionally fine and rare fluorite and quartz combination from this ancient district, first worked for copper and iron. The district was later worked for fluorite until its closure in 1991. The dramatic, sharp, pretty lavender, 4.0 cm, doubly terminated octahedron is aesthetically set in massive quartz and is beautifully accented with a smaller, 1.5 cm octahedron. The embedded quartz on the fluorite adds pizzazz. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, the octo has only one gently bruised corner, which is certainly only a modest detraction to this very choice and uncommon example from the Herb Obodda Collection # 3733. Valued at $800-1000.
