Item Description

Fluorite specimens from the much less well-known Kavalerovo Mining District, near Dal'negorsk, Russia are much rarer than from the much more famous nearby Dal'negorsk mines. Distinctive, diagnostic, lustrous and translucent, grass-green fluorite cuboctahedrons with frosted stepped-growth faces are aesthetically clustered and accented with the glassy quartz crystals. The sharp, dramatic, crestal crystal is 3.5 cm tall. Specimens such as this came out in the early 1990s, with none since. A very fine combination piece with excellent character and purple fluorescence. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued by Herb at $500, more than five years ago. Today valued at $800-1000.
