Fluorite (fluorescent) on Quartz - very rare style

A highly rare, choice miniature from the famous Rogerley Quarry, home to mines that produce many of the world's finest, and most recognizable, Fluorite penetration twins. These green, lustrous, and GEMMY crystals are 9 mm in size, with the twins nestled perfectly on a bed of crystallized Quartz. This association of Fluorites with Quartz is uncommon from here, occuring on perhaps 1% of the specimens. Under just the right UV lighting, the Fluorites blaze with a brilliant whitish-blue bordering on the quintessential blue-purple of English Fluorites. This great fluorescence is literally why English Fluorites lent their name to the term 'fluorescence.' I was particularly struck by it, as it reminded me of the King Under the Mountain's coveted jewel, the Arkenstone, from the movie "The Hobbit." Just look at the pic.... This is a fine, aesthetic, and representative specimen for both the habit and the locality. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection. From the "Autumn Pocket," 2019. Tim prepared fluorites for the company that mines here, and kept some special first-choice pieces like this in lieu of payment for his prep work.
