Item Description
Fluorite specimens from the much less well-known Kavalerovo Mining District, near Dal'negorsk, Russia are much rarer than from the much more famous nearby Dal'negorsk mines. A distinctive, diagnostic, lustrous and translucent, light mint-green fluorite cuboctahedron with frosted or preferentially etched faces is aesthetically set in the curved vug lined with nubby, very sparkly chalcedony. The sharp, dramatic crystal is 3.0 cm tall. Specimens such as this came out in the early 1990s, with none since. A very fine combination piece with excellent character and bright light purple fluorescence. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued by Herb at $600, more than five years ago. Today valued at $800-1000.
