Item Description

Classic fluorite from the mine that makes green fluorite in abundance, but few enough of the optical gem quality of this specimen. Here we have Rogerley gem fluorite in single cubes and interpenetrating twins, beautifully displayed on a shard of matrix. The leftmost cluster is 3 cm across. Most crystals are to 1 cm on edge, but the largest in the middle is nearly 1.5 cm on the longest edge. This is just a beautiful small cabinet specimen with impeccable quality, NOT the common material the miners wholesaled in volume as they came out. From the private collection of Jon Sigerman, donated in support of the Mineralogical Record at Auction. Valued ???...this is a rare quality, and should be valued higher than average material which is more cloudy or included. These are GEM crystals, literally! As a bonus (of course), it also does fluoresce strongly, even turning purple just in daylight.
