Fluorite (fluorescent) ex. Halpern Collection

The yellow Fluorite cubes from the Hilton Mine have always been collectors' favorites among specimens from the Midlands of England, and they are rare compared to the green and purple crystals which come out of the many other mines of the region. This particular matrix specimen features numerous penetration-twinned, yellow Fluorite cubes to 3.3 cm on edge. One of the outstanding features of these crystals are the frosted cores crowned by totally gemmy and glassy golden-yellow corners. The word 'fluorescence ' is derived from English Fluorites, and you can see why. A classic and uncommon specimen from the Hilton Mine, which was abandoned in 1963. This was most likely collected by people like Lindsay Greenbank and his fellow colelctors, in the decade after that. I have not seen a similar piece for sale since we sold the Greenbank Collection ten years ago, and had a few specimens from the same mine/style. Note the size here, nearly 5 inches across. It is a large, complete, 360 knob in spectacular condition. Such a piece should be valued $2000-3000 , or more so if in England and the prices they fetch there in pounds sterling.
