Fluorite (fluorescent) and Baryte, with Galena

Quality combinations of Fluorite, Baryte, and Galena from the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) have always been highly sought-after, particularly when the Barytes are as good as they are on this specimen as a contrast...an old classic! The cubes of Fluorite are gemmy and slightly frosted, and range up to 5 mm on edge, while the lustrous, 1.2 cm Barytes blades are white to gemmy, and they are arranged in very attractive, parallel clusters. Add in small cubes of Galena for interest and accent, and you have a choice, old-time German specimen. Oh, and we shouldn't forget the vibrant, purple-blue fluorescence of the Fluorite! These pieces are part of a century-old Italian collection that was recently acquired. Its historic nature, aside from the sheer age of the specimens, is reflected in how dramatically geopolitical borders have changed since these labels were created. Interestingly, the label translates as Devil's Ground !
