Item Description

During the early part of the 1970s, the May Quarry produced some excellent specimen of light, golden Fluorite cubes on matrix. This piece features sharp, very gemmy, lustrous, and transparent cubes with the largest Fluorites measuring 1.8 cm on edge. The lavendar fluorescence is stunning. Historically, the various sedimentary quarries throughout Midwest produce only a handful of species, with the Fort Wayne Fluorite ranking very highly (perhaps the hghest level) among these when crystals are as good as this. These are GEM, SHARP, and stunning quality for the material. Most ewre colelcted in the 1970s and 1980s, and very few fine specimens found in modern times. Valued $1000. Formerly in the Edna D. Doughty collection.
