Item Description

Fabulous, lustrous, gem to translucent, bi-colored yellow, fluorite cubes to 4.0 cm comprise this spectacular and excellent old-timer from the historic Freiberg District of Saxony. The corners and edges of many of the crystals are a striking, water-clear, rich golden-amber, while the rest of the crystals are saffron-yellow. The gem areas look like cut Baltic amber, the color resembles the best Elk Creek barites and there are gorgeous rainbow effects! Overall, the piece is in excellent shape, with only a bit of corner and edge wear and contacting. There is some purple fluorite on the back. Very faint purple fluorescence. Outstanding material from the Robert Whitmore Collection. Valued at $2000-2500 for unique color and gemminess.
