Item Description

A wonderfully beautiful and showy display specimen of colorful and good-sized Fluorite crystals from the Sounion Mines in Lavrion, Greece. This district is best known for its secondary ore minerals, and Fluorites don't get a lot of attention, largely because they don't often form in exceptionally eye-catching specimens, but THIS piece is a notably fine quality example. This attractive "hand-sized" specimen is filled with lovely cubic crystals of gemmy Fluorite measuring up to 1.5 cm on edge (very good sized for the locality) which have a pleasing purple hue on the exterior, and a pale greenish shade underneath. Nearly all of the crystals in the central portion of the specimen are in fine condition, and the only roughness is around the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. A really choice example of what I would call uncommon material from Lavrion.
