Fluorite is actually quite rare from this important economic and specimen location, and this is a sparkling, pretty miniature which features a complex cuboctahedral crystal of gemmy lavender purple fluorite, perched beautifully on matrix of siderite and quartz. The fluorite, 1.6 x 1.5 x 1.25 cm, is perched on a sparkling druse of siderite, that drapes a terminated quartz crystal point. Other stacked and disc-shaped crystals of siderite provide accent to either side of the fluorite. Overall, a choice miniature, valued $750-1000. Donated by Dr. Tom Campbell (Tom is a lifelong collector, field geologist, and coauthor of the Encyclopedia of Minerals, as well as editor of the upcoming new book Mineral Collections in Brazil).
