Item Description
A nice old time Fluorite from the Black Forest area featuring hundreds of tiny, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, soft purple colored cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to about 1-2 mm sitting on layers of banded white Barite and grey Quartz matrix. The label accompanying the piece states that the Fluorite crystals are twinned, and while I can see what appear to be a few penetration twins here and there, most of the crystals appear to be single untwinned examples. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#780). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
