Item Description
This specimen came labeled simply as Fluorite from "Mexico" with no further locality information. It's a very attractive specimen featuring a three-dimensional crystallized group comprising hundreds of gemmy golden-yellow Fluorite cubes measuring up to 4 mm free of matrix. The back of the piece shows a thin coating of modified scalenohedral iron-included Calcite crystals. Excellent condition all around and very showy, it actually displays on its own without a base or clay. If anybody out there has some insight as to where this piece might be from, please feel free to let us know. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12550). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
