Item Description
Fluorite from this locality is very old, and very hard to obtain (probably dating to the early to mid 1900s). This is a fairly intense pink fluorite, of good size, fro mthis locale which is impossible to find on the specimen market today. It showcases a translucent 3.5-cm octohedral crystal with some steppe faces, impaled on other (partial) crystals. The whole piece is transparent, gemmy, and pretty clean when backlit. There is damage to the side crystals, and to the back of the main octohedron on one tip, but it displays well and is...what it is. An ultimate fluorite locality rarity for history and color. It came to the States via Burton Jirgl, a Los Angeles dealer who had served in the army in Japan in the 1950s and brought back many specimens. He sold it to John Ydren, whose collection I purchased early in 2008. So, it has not been on the market in some 50 years. Valued ???
