Item Description

Specimens from the Homestake-Jack Pot Mine are not commonly seen on the market, especially these days, as nothing has come out in many years. This small cabinet display specimen features attractive, gemmy, octahedral crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.3 cm across on a very thin layer of Quartz matrix. No major damage. It should be noted that while the Fluorite crystals are octahedral in shape, they actually have hundreds of tiny modifying faces sprinkled all over, which appears to be a second generation overgrowing the original Fluorite crystals. A really cool specimen of these hard to find specimens from this old gold mine in northwestern Arizona (near the Nevada Border). Priced at $650 in the inventory. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California. After retiring to Prescott, Arizona in the early 2000s, Gary rekindled his childhood love of minerals, amassing a collection of roughly 2000 specimens focusing on localities in which he and his wife had lived or visited (Mexico, Peru and the western / southwestern United States).
