Item Description
An attractive cluster of purple and colorless Fluorite crystals showing a combination of cubic and dodecahedral faces intergrown to from a three-dimensional display specimen. The cubic faces has very nice luster while the dodecahedral faces has a frosted / matte luster. You can see the centers of the crystals have a purple "core" while the exterior edges are colorless. The largest crystal measures 1.3 cm on edge. The piece actually sits nicely without a base or clay. Valued at $500. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
