Item Description

Castle Dome Fluorites are some of the most well-known examples of the species from anywhere in Arizona. Here we have a good sized cube of the material with a lovely "water green" color (when backlit) and smooth, well-formed faces on the display side. No matrix present, and the although the crystal is contacted on the base / reverse side, it's still looks great from the front. No specific locality was given, but as Castle Dome Fluorites go, this is certainly one of the largest single crystals I've seen from the area, and it has a very pleasing color in person. A really cool miniature sized display specimen from the collection of David Burgess with a label from Arizona Minerals (Mark Hay and Dick Morris). David (1951-2016) was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
