Item Description

A gorgeous specimen of cubic Fluorite featuring sharp, well-formed crystals showing gorgeous purple and golden hues. The piece GLOWS with color when strongly backlit as the outer purple hue is illuminated by the beautiful yellow interior. Excellent condition on the front of the piece, but it is contacted on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. The largest crystal measures 2.7 cm on edge. This locality is well known for amazing multi-color Fluorite specimens, though they are few and far between on the market these days. This area is completely closed down and will never produce these specimens again. From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
